A favourite Irish born designer based in New York Don O’ Neills Theia Couture was well represented on the IFTA’s Red Carpet by Kathryn Thomas & Sile Seoige. Theia Couture is a favourite among the celebrities in the State’s – you regularly see the designs on the Red Carpets there and most recently at the Grammys – Carrie Underwood wore the label for her performance. Other looks we loved on the night were Rosanna Davidson in Dawn Fitzgerald Atelier & Aoibhnn Garrihy looking very age appropriate in a Emma Manley gown – finished off perfectly with a simple side plait hairstyle – a look easily achievable by you at home.
The Bafta’s were next to come along – and i struggled to find anyone worth mentioning on the night – maybe it was the rain but i didn’t think anyone stood out in particular – well they stood out but just not worth mentioning GEMMA ARTERTON – ALICE EVE – a flaming disaster, pun intended.
I did love SJP‘s bold statement in the tailored jumpsuit look – considering the weather i thought it very appropriate for the night, others might disagree because of the event but i think she pulled it off well. There is nothing worse than seeing the actors in attendance in rain soaked gowns.
Others that stood out were Laura Bailey in a coral Roksanda Ilincic – she looked AMAZING head to toe & Amanda Byram looked very glamourous too.
Elle Style Awards
Also in London the ELLE Style Awards or in my opinion the ‘No Style’ Awards – i was extremely disappointed there was no one really to gush over. It was a typical ‘London Style’ quite grungy & not a polished look – which i think it should be considering the event. I did LOVE Laura Carmichael of Downton Abbey – i think it’s the best i’ve seen her on a Red Carpet, also i loved Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney she looked really stunning i thought but you are never going to look bad when your best friend is Stella & Rachel Stevens really stood out for me.
And finally in America the Grammy’s – one word RIHANNA – finally someone to GUSH over – she looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in a striking Red Azzendine Alaia Gown with the matching red lip & nails, perfection. I also loved Adele – it was seeing her in a nice bright colour for a change that did it for me, i thought she looked glowing! Solange Knowles looked so youthful in her bright green gown and the bold coral statement shoe to match – not everyone could pull that look off but she certainly can – she is a fashion rockstar!
These next few words may be the hardest i’ve ever had to type – but i really didn’t like Beyonce & Jennifer Lopez & as you know from reading our blogs we love them here at Saturday Night Fashion. Beyonce just disappointed me & i didn’t it flattered her womanly curves & Jennifer i thought she looked a bit ridiculous with the big slit in the dress it just takes away from her whole look & wasn’t very flattering of her legs either. Hopefully when i’m writing about the upcoming Oscars i’ll be saying something different – don’t let us down ladies.
